Connect Health, the leading provider of community musculoskeletal (MSK) services, has launched a new subsidiary company, ‘Smartdust Ltd’ to drive innovation and improve patient care

Connect Health strives to be at the forefront of transforming MSK service pathways, technology development and operational innovation and the new entity will help provide even better support to patients whilst improving efficiency across the organisation.

This is a big investment in the North East region, creating new jobs in an exciting and energised environment, with great career opportunities. As part of the Connect Health family, Smartdust will drive real innovation in the MSK pathway initially and in the future, its wider focus will be to incubate ideas and innovation across a range of services.

The Smartdust team will be looking to invest in a number of expert roles covering business process re-engineering, business analysts and IT expertise making the ideas generated from across the business a reality.

Jon Lowe, Managing Director of Connect Health says

“Three years ago we took the decision to invest significantly in the capability of the business to meet the growing demand. I’m delighted to announce that we are now making a further significant investment that is firmly aimed at benefitting the patient, our colleagues, and the taxpayer.”

“In order to achieve focus and clarity around the delivery of those innovations, we have created a subsidiary business called Smartdust, that will be an innovation incubator. We are keenly pursuing partnerships with interested universities and related organisations in order to attract the broadest range of talent and expertise.”

Lisa Davidson, Chief People Officer added

“Pioneering is at the heart of the organisation and working with Smartdust we will have an enduring focus on delivering innovation for patients, innovation for MSK pathways and innovation for the NHS. We offer an exciting place to work for those who wish to maximise their skills and talent in the region.”

Given the NHS Long Term Plan and the opportunities that create to improve the experience for patients, alongside the ongoing need to prevent and effectively manage musculoskeletal disorders within the workplace, Connect is confident in accelerating and driving forward exciting ideas at what is a key and appropriate time.

The new company name and logo have been chosen to offer something unique in our market and aim to portray innovation, agility, and transformation.
