Paul Scope, Joint Head of Employment at Ward Hadaway, explains:

Tell us a bit about your work in the healthcare sector.

Ward Hadaway has been operating for over thirty years, in the North East as well as Leeds and Manchester. During that time, the healthcare sector has become an important focus for our business and we are privileged to work with a great number of healthcare professionals, from GPs to NHS Trusts to the private healthcare sector.

Our partners in this area do a sterling job of keeping the nation on its feet, they are hardworking, professional, innovative and compassionate. That’s why we are delighted to support this event and in particular the Employee of the Year Award. Congratulations to all the shortlisted candidates, in our eyes you are all winners.

What is your relationship with Connect Health?

We’ve worked with Connect Health for several years and in that time have forged a very productive working relationship. We provide the team with advice on all sorts of legal matters and in return, they have been very supportive of our own employees.

In 2018, more than 50 runners from our firm completed Three Points North – a charity relay challenge between the firm’s offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester, as part of its 30th-anniversary celebrations.

The run, which raised £7,500, was the brainchild of Corporate Partner, Katherine Hay-Heddle and Commercial Partner, Matthew Cormack as a fun way of celebrating the firm’s 30th anniversary.

It took just over 33 hours to complete the 135-mile distance, covering terrain including city streets, roads and rambling countryside. Between them, the team ran a cumulative 490 miles (the distance from Newcastle to Luxembourg) with many running further than they had ever run before.

During the run, Connect supported the team on the ground with physiotherapy, as well as aftercare for many of the runners. It was a great partnership and we were very grateful to the team of experts at Connect for keeping us on our feet!

What is your message to our Connect Health colleagues?

Keep up the good work! Connect Health is a fantastic business with a dedicated and expert team. They work tirelessly to ensure the very best of health for people across the UK and they are making a real difference in communities and companies. We’re proud to support you.
