Long Covid

The Challenge

The Solution

Connect Health is uniquely placed to provide a comprehensive Long Covid pathway. We improve fatigue, pain and other physical symptoms, physical and psychological functioning and promote self-management, health education and healthy lifestyles to minimise health risks.

What is the Connect Health Long Covid Management Programme?

Long Covid symptoms are complex and involve multiple systems in the body. Current medical treatment is limited at present, although improving as we learn more about the virus. This can lead to a sense of frustration or hopelessness for people, particularly when this problem starts to impact their quality of life.

Connect Health provides a specialist, multi-disciplinary service to support people aged 18+ years who are experiencing persistent physical symptoms, such as chronic fatigue following coronavirus infection.

A 6-week educational group programme aimed at supporting people to learn tools and strategies to manage the symptoms of Long Covid is delivered. It does not aim to completely cure symptoms but aims to give people the skills to overcome difficulties, and get back to living a life of value, despite on-going symptoms.

Evidence based research suggests that self-management programmes like ours can improve people’s health, wellbeing, and quality of life and many of the strategies used have been effective in helping people with similar long term health conditions, especially fatigue.

Amongst other things, our programmes can help you to:

1. Understand your condition and what can help.

2. Improve energy management and reduce fatigue.

3. Set and achieve meaningful goals.

4. Prioritise and plan.

5. Increase activity and improve physical health.

6. Learn how to relax and be mindful.

7. Improve sleep.

8. Respond helpfully to difficult thoughts and emotions.

9. Communicate effectively.

10. Be kind to and take care of yourself.

11. Prepare for and manage flareups.

12. Know how to access good information and resources.
