Katie graduated from Salford University with Bsc in Physiotherapy in 2002.  She started working in Hertfordshire at the QE2 Hospital doing general Junior Physio rotations and applied for a Senior Outpatient position and was successful.

Katie worked as a Senior Outpatient Physio for approximately 2 years, before leaving to go travelling around the world for 6 months with her partner (now husband).

On her return to the UK, Katie did 6 months of locum work, including a private Outpatient position in Crewe, then a Community Orthopaedics job in Derbyshire. She was then offered a permanent Senior Outpatient job at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, while also working evenings and weekends at The Spire Hospital in Harpenden in the Outpatient department.

It was at Hemel that Katie developed an interest in hand therapy, working alongside two experienced Hand Therapists. She volunteered to do the weekly A+E hand clinic, where she developed her splinting skills.

A job opportunity came for a Senior Hand Therapy role in 2011, which Katie was successful with, and she has since worked in this position both at St Albans Hospital and Hemel Hempstead clinics. She works closely with the local Hand Surgeon, meeting weekly with him to discuss cases.

When she was Tuped across to Connect Health in 2018, Katie applied for the Hand Therapy Team Lead role, which she has been working in for 2 years.

Over the years, Katie has attended several BAHT (British Association of Hand Therapy) courses to develop her hand therapy skills.

In her spare time, Katie has a young family, and enjoys cycling with her kids, baking, running, and lots of crafts! On the occasions that she gets to the sea, Katie enjoys surfing, paddle boarding and beach days.
