Happy Older People’s Day; a day dedicated to honouring our older population! Often growing older is portrayed as a negative or something to be dreaded, however today is all about celebrating older people’s achievements and the contribution they make to society.

According to the Office for National Statistics, by 2035 it is estimated that 23% of the UK will be aged 65 and over, so it’s important that we correct the negative stereotype which surrounds growing older.

As part of our contribution to Older People’s Day, we’re celebrating an ageing workforce and promoting the positive benefits that an older workforce can bring. Age is frequently used as the criteria for job capability, however this should not case. Instead, knowledge and expertise, which a more experienced worker is more likely to have, should be the reason behind the decision to hire someone.
