Our Integrated MSK Service is exciting community-based services. It is a single-point of access for NHS patients referred by their GP with MSK conditions, and offers fast and effective physiotherapy-led treatment, expert clinical assessment, diagnostics and onward referral, all from local and convenient community settings. WIMS incorporates Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners in MSK, Pain and Rheumatology together with MSK physiotherapists, a GP with special interest, psychologists and rehabilitation therapists to deliver care.
About the role
Due to growth of our services, we have opportunities for New Graduate Physiotherapists to join our team. As a New Graduate Physiotherapist, you will work closely with our clinicians to deliver multidisciplinary and multi-modal patient care which may involve individual clinical assessments and management, psychological and pharmacological interventions.
You will be fully supported as you move through the programme and receive expert guidance and supervision plus In Service Training and you’ll complete our well organised Accelerated Development programme.
You will receive practical and theoretical supervision from day one to develop your skills and clinical reasoning.
The Accelerated Development Programme (ADP) is designed to enable Physiotherapists develop a high level of musculoskeletal clinical reasoning skills, confidence and professional decision making.
The programme consists of weekly 3 hour sessions of teaching, delivered in a relaxed and informal manner. The sessions are delivered within contracted hours.
There is a large practical element as well as time for discussion, clinical reasoning and patient case reflection within the group.
Independent study is an essential part of the programme and participants are expected to do 3 – 6 hours of preparation study per week including revision of joint anatomy, reviewing relevant research articles and preparing patient reflection cases
In the role, whilst undertaking comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of patients with a wide variety of physical and emotional needs, you must formulate, deliver, review and progress individual treatment programmes and ensure effective treatment, specialist advice and timely discharge is achieved.
Developing and promoting a positive and dynamic image and culture, you must foster productive relationships with key stakeholders such as local Consultants, GP’s and corporate client sites and provide support and training to junior staff and Physiotherapy students.
Who we are looking for
The role of an MSK Physiotherapist is fundamentally about the consistent delivery of quality clinical care of musculoskeletal conditions for the patients presenting in Community Services.
You will be positive, constructive and approachable, along with being a will be registered with the HCPC, a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and a fully qualified Physiotherapist looking for a role which will allow them to develop and further train to reach Senior Physiotherapist status. We are looking for you to be capable of managing a varied caseload of MSK patients, you will have the ability to work under pressure and be committed to CPD. As you will be part of the ADP programme you must be driven to succeed and want to further develop professionally.
We are looking for you to have the desire to facilitate improvement in both self and service, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate confidently and effectively with both patients and colleagues alike. Patient notes and clinical diaries are administered electronically so a good level of IT skills and willingness to embrace innovation and technical advances is essential.
